Goldfields Aboriginal Community Services
Who we are
Goldfields Aboriginal Community Services (GACS) is an Aboriginal charity in Western Australia's Goldfields region, based near Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Formerly the Goldfields Land and Sea Council, it underwent a significant organisational change in 2019 and is rebuilding and expanding its services with a focus on care, education and connection to Country. Its mission is to empower the Aboriginal community and inspire future generations, centring cultural identity and Elder knowledge. GACS works across shared values of respect, inclusion, humility and cultural safety, and protecting Country through knowledge-sharing and partnership. Its programs include youth, education and community development delivered on Country in places such as Mount Margaret and Kurrawang; ranger and land management programs with a women's leadership focus; economic development and community enterprises that create jobs and reinvest revenue; and on-Country cultural immersion, corporate and visitor programs. It partners with organisations including the ABC Foundation.
