Goldfields Aboriginal Language Centre Aboriginal Corporation

The Goldfields Aboriginal Language Centre is an Aboriginal corporation that serves as the peak body for Aboriginal languages across the Goldfields region of Western Australia. Its work began as a project in 2011, grew into a formal language centre in 2016, and was incorporated in 2020. The Centre works alongside language speakers to record, linguistically analyse and database the region's Aboriginal languages, documenting more than twenty languages and creating preservation materials such as dictionaries, grammars and lexical databases. It also develops teaching and learning resources and runs regular language courses. Beyond documentation, the Centre offers cultural competency and culturally safe organisation training, interpreting and translation services, and hosts the annual Goldfields Aboriginal Language Awards along with conferences and NAIDOC week events. It is a registered charity holding Deductible Gift Recipient and Registered Cultural Organisation status.
