Langford Aboriginal Association
Langford Aboriginal Association (LAA) is an Aboriginal community-controlled, not-for-profit organisation delivering services and programs that build the health, wellbeing, and cultural and social connections of Aboriginal people living and working in the Perth metropolitan region. Established in 2000 after local Aboriginal families identified a lack of services for their community, LAA aims to ensure community members have the information, knowledge and skills to meet their needs. Its programs include family and cultural groups such as Moorditj Yoka, art and yarning, grief and loss support, MyTime, and NAIDOC events, alongside education, culture, language and family support, all delivered with cultural respect.
Who we are
Langford Aboriginal Association is a not-for-profit Aboriginal community-controlled organisation serving Aboriginal people in the Perth metropolitan region. It was established in 2000 and incorporated on 8 November 2000 under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987, after a group of Aboriginal families became aware of the lack of services available to their community. The association began with a women's group funded through adult community education and grew to deliver a broad range of programs spanning education, cultural connection, family support, financial literacy, youth activities and community events. Originally operating from the Boogurlarri (later William Langford) Community House, LAA moved to its current site at Imber Turn, Langford, in 2005. It is governed by a management committee of Aboriginal people from varied professional backgrounds and prioritises respect, inclusion, trust, honesty, confidentiality, cultural respect and transparency in its work.
