Ngarliyarndu Bindirri Aboriginal Corporation

Ngarliyarndu Bindirri Aboriginal Corporation is a community-led, 100% Aboriginal-controlled not-for-profit operating on a social enterprise model in Roebourne. Formally established in 2000, it grew from 1970s community initiatives and is now described as one of the oldest and largest Aboriginal corporations in the Pilbara. NBAC's vision is maximum well-being and self-determination for its people, guided by values of honesty, empowerment, equality and pride. It delivers this through a mix of enterprises and support services: Brida grounds and maintenance work, Handy Hands retail, the Red Dirt Driving Academy, the Roebourne Post Office and the Pilbara Support Network covering mental health, housing and family services. The organisation employs more than 200 local people, over half of them Aboriginal, and reports being almost entirely self-funded through its enterprises, keeping wages and opportunity in the local Aboriginal community while honouring culture.
