Southern Aboriginal Corporation

Southern Aboriginal Corporation (SAC) is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation and registered charity founded in 1983. Its original purpose was to represent local Aboriginal people and deliver services addressing health, housing, education and employment. Today SAC describes itself as the largest Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation in south-western Western Australia, supporting communities across the Great Southern, South West and Wheatbelt. Its services span affordable housing, tenancy and homelessness support; social and emotional wellbeing and suicide prevention; a Family Violence Prevention Legal Service; family dispute resolution; a tobacco and health program; Aboriginal youth empowerment; an Aboriginal Rangers program; and employment and skills training, including an Indigenous Skills and Employment Program. Cultural work is guided by a Noongar Cultural Framework and delivered through initiatives such as the Kairli Cultural Centre. SAC operates from offices in Albany, Katanning, Bunbury and Narrogin, reaching around seventeen regional and remote locations.
