CASWA's membership has reached 60 Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
Three years ago there were 15. Growing four-fold in that time says something about the appetite in this State for a peak body that speaks for the community-controlled sector on its own terms.
Our Members span metropolitan, regional and remote Western Australia and work across health, housing, family support, child safety, justice, language, ranger programs, employment and training. The South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council joined during this period, adding further depth to our representation in the South West.
Membership is not a formality. Every application is assessed against our membership policy and put to the CASWA Board for decision. What Members get in return is a seat at tables where decisions about their sector are made — Closing the Gap implementation, commissioning reform, service transition and workforce policy.
