Derby Aboriginal Health Service
Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation delivering culturally safe, holistic primary health care across Derby and the West Kimberley. It officially opened on 10 December 1998, growing from a single donger with one consultation room. DAHS supports the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities for generations to come, providing primary care, chronic disease prevention and management, maternal and child health, social and emotional wellbeing, sexual health, dental and visiting allied health and specialist services. It also runs transport, hospital and after-hours care, and remote clinics across seven West Kimberley communities, alongside targeted programs.
Who we are
Derby Aboriginal Health Service is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation delivering culturally safe, holistic primary health care across Derby and the West Kimberley. Its roots trace to the mid-1990s Jayida Buru Health Strategy and the first elected DAHS Council in 1997, before the service officially opened its doors on 10 December 1998 from a single donger with one consultation room. DAHS supports the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities, not just today but for generations to come. Services include primary care and immunisations, chronic disease prevention and management, maternal and child health, social and emotional wellbeing, sexual and dental health, and visiting allied health and specialist care. DAHS also provides transport, hospital and after-hours care, and remote clinics across seven West Kimberley communities, plus programs such as Tackling Indigenous Smoking, cancer support and elder care.
