Koya Aboriginal Corporation

Koya Aboriginal Corporation is a 100% Aboriginal-owned and led not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and vulnerable children, young people and their communities. Founded by a Stolen Generation survivor and respected Ballardong Elder, it has been operating for more than twenty years and serves Perth's north-east and south-west metropolitan areas. Koya's purpose is to gather Aboriginal grassroots knowledge and community-lived experience so that young people can grow, succeed in their chosen paths, and live empowered, independent lives. Its work spans education, early childhood, youth and family support. Programs include primary school academies focused on attendance and learning, a multisports program for children and teenagers, the Djookian Club for Aboriginal girls and young women, school holiday programs, and a peer ambassador program. Koya also runs Aboriginal Nature Trekz, a cultural tourism social enterprise, alongside cultural mapping of Noongar sites and translational research initiatives.
