Nirrumbuk Environmental Health and Services

Nirrumbuk Environmental Health and Services (NEHS) was established by Kimberley communities on the Dampier Peninsula and has grown into a significant Aboriginal employer delivering place-based services across the region. Its purpose is to support direct change from poverty, sickness, suffering, destitution, misfortune, distress and helplessness for all Aboriginal people without discrimination. NEHS designs services that recognise cultural challenges and build autonomy, health and wellbeing, guided by five values: community, staff support, culture, responsiveness and accountability. From environmental health and chronic disease programs to housing, disability and reintegration support, the organisation prioritises cultural connection, loyalty to staff and the flexibility to adapt services to community need. NEHS works alongside Aboriginal people across the Kimberley to improve living conditions and health outcomes and to create local employment.
