Pilbara Aboriginal Health Alliance
Pilbara Aboriginal Health Alliance (PAHA) is a regional peak body established in June 2019, uniting three Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people across the Pilbara. Its members are Mawarnkarra Health Service, Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) and Wirraka Maya Health Service. A registered not-for-profit charity, PAHA describes itself as the gateway for Aboriginal health in the East and West Pilbara. It strengthens members through capacity building, advocates collectively for regional health priorities, coordinates forums and research, securely manages regional health data, secures funding, and drives system-level improvements in life expectancy, chronic disease and access.
Who we are
Pilbara Aboriginal Health Alliance (PAHA) is a regional peak body and registered not-for-profit charity formed in June 2019 as a partnership of three Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations working to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people across the Pilbara. Its members are Mawarnkarra Health Service, serving Roebourne and surrounding communities; Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service, serving the East Pilbara desert communities of Newman, Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji; and Wirraka Maya Health Service in the Port and South Hedland area. Describing itself as the gateway for Aboriginal health in the East and West Pilbara, PAHA strengthens its members through capacity building, advocates collectively for regional health priorities, coordinates forums and research, manages regional health data securely, and secures funding. It drives system-level improvements addressing life expectancy, chronic disease and access to services across the region.
