Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service
Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Newman, delivering culturally safe care across the East Pilbara and Western Desert. It serves Newman, Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji, primarily Nyiyaparli and Martu peoples. PAMS provides holistic health care at every stage of life, including primary health care, chronic disease management, mental health and social and emotional wellbeing, NDIS and disability support, child and school health, kidney care and dialysis, elder care, sexual health, immunisations, Indigenous healing, environmental health, smoking cessation and family and domestic violence support. It emphasises 24/7 emergency care and community-based activities.
Who we are
Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Newman that delivers culturally safe, community-focused health care across the East Pilbara and Western Desert of Western Australia. PAMS serves the communities of Newman, Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji, primarily the Nyiyaparli and Martu peoples, and describes delivering a holistic range of services that support people through every stage of life. Its services include primary health care, chronic disease management, mental health and social and emotional wellbeing, NDIS and disability support, child and school health, kidney care and dialysis, elder care, sexual health, immunisations, Indigenous healing, environmental health, the Puyu Paki smoking-cessation program, and family and domestic violence support. PAMS emphasises 24/7 emergency care, health promotion, early intervention and community-based activities, and is a member of the Pilbara Aboriginal Health Alliance.
