Wunan Foundation

Wunan Foundation is an Aboriginal development organisation committed to driving socio-economic change in the East Kimberley. Its core purpose is to ensure Aboriginal people in the region enjoy the capabilities and opportunities they need to make positive choices leading to independent and fulfilling lives, guided by the motto Aboriginal people succeeding through ability, opportunity and reward for effort. The name Wunan, adopted for the East Kimberley region in 1990, refers to a traditional Aboriginal system of fair exchange and mutual support. Wunan works across six strategic pillars: leadership, education, employment, housing, healthcare and commercial enterprise. It delivers funded programs alongside a group of Aboriginal-owned social enterprises, including Lily Lagoon Resort, Wunan Health and Wellbeing Centre, Wunan Construction, Wunan Driver Training, iBase accounting services and headspace Kununurra, and builds partnerships with community, business and government stakeholders. It is headquartered in Kununurra with additional sites across the Kimberley and interstate.
