Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation

Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC) is the native title representative body for the Yamatji and Pilbara regions of Western Australia, covering the Pilbara, Mid West, Murchison and Gascoyne, an area equivalent to about one-third of the State. A not-for-profit Aboriginal corporation, YMAC is run by an Aboriginal Board of Directors with Regional Committees chosen by its members; membership is open to all adult Yamatji and Marlpa people. YMAC represents Traditional Owner groups in native title claims and provides legal services, cultural heritage management, and land and sea management. It supports communities in agreement-making and negotiations, including with resource and renewable-energy developers, and undertakes research, advocacy and law-reform work. YMAC operates offices in Perth, Geraldton, Hedland and Broome, and hosts major community gatherings such as the Yule River Bush Meeting. Recent work includes a Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and a renewable energy negotiation guide.
