Yorgum Healing Services Aboriginal Corporation

Yorgum Healing Services is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation founded in 1991 by a group of Aboriginal women concerned about the lack of culturally appropriate counselling. From East Perth it provides culturally secure, trauma-informed healing for Aboriginal people, their families and communities. Yorgum's vision is that Aboriginal people, their families and communities have the skills and supports to improve and maintain strong social, cultural and emotional wellbeing. Its name honours the Noongar 'Yorgum', the red flowering gum, a symbol of connectedness and life. Yorgum walks alongside those affected by grief, trauma, family and domestic violence and abuse, and provides specialist support for Stolen Generations survivors and people seeking redress, grounding all of its work in culture, community and healing.
