New Workforce Development and Training Capacity to Strengthen Aboriginal Community Controlled Workforce in First of its Kind Government Agreement

From 2026, the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) and the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA) will be expanding our training and workforce development work through a first-of-its-kind government agreement.

This work is about more than funding, It’s about:

• Growing our own workforce.

• Strengthening pathways into meaningful employment.

• Ensuring Aboriginal organisations are leading the design and delivery of training for our communities.

As Aboriginal peak bodies, CASWA and AHCWA will take on a stronger role in coordinating sector priorities, advocating for sustainable investment, and supporting community-led training and capability building across WA.

This positions AHCWA and CASWA to lead workforce development across health, community services, and training, now and into the future.
